Mostly hot and sunny once more, though we might get a shower or even a downpour at some point. Might.
Thanks to Louise for the photograph.
So the general picture sees high pressure now centred to the north of Scotland and we are pulling in an easterly breeze – hence the less warm nights and the morning cloud. There’s a timid low pressure system to our south-west which brings the chance of a shower this week at times…just chances.

Sunday starts cloudy but this will gradually burn back during the morning to leave glorious sunshine all day. Hot, reaching around 30’C though also quite windy. Reasonably clear skies overnight, though some patchy cloud by dawn. Down to around 14’C.
Monday starts with some patchy low cloud around but again this will break up to leave long spells of sunshine, though some high cloud spreading up from the south later in the day to make it hazy. Still hot but a bit less than it has been – around 28’C, maybe 29’C and still quite windy. Fairly cloudy overnight and a somewhat warmer night, down to around 17’C.
Tuesday starts with some patchy low cloud around again, and again this breaks up into long spells of sunshine. A bit of fair weather cloud around and some high cloud again later in the day. Hotter once more, around 31’C and still breezy. Some high cloud around overnight, and somewhat warmer – down to around 18’C.
By Wednesday mostly it should remain sunny or at least with hazy sunshine, but a weak weather front approaching from the south-west brings a chance of an afternoon shower, perhaps thundery – but no more than a 20% chance as it stands. Still hot, of course, around 31’C and a breeze. Mostly clear skies overnight and fairly warm, down to around 18’C.
By Thursday, high pressure is still dominating and now centred to the north-east of Scotland, with that timid little low pressure to our south-west edging closer.

Another day of hot sunshine, perhaps hazy sunshine and reaching around 31’C or so – probably more humid than of late too. A very small chance of a thundery shower breaking out. Fairly clear skies overnight, and fairly warm again – around 19’C.
Uncertainty increases quite a lot from Friday onwards (perhaps I’ve even been too confident for Thursday) as we don’t yet know what that little low pressure is going to do.
Sunshine should still dominate on Friday and through the weekend, but the question is whether any thundery downpours will develop on any day – potentially it just stays sunny throughout, potentially there are afternoon showers/downpours (maybe thundery) on any or every day.
Another question remains temperatures. The more likely range is 28’C to 31’C – though a small chance of something fresher, say in the range of 23’C to 26’C, but also a small chance of getting into the very hot category again.
No strong signals after next weekend, except for temperatures likely to remain above average. I guess more of a mixture of summer weather conditions and probably some showers at times, though plenty of very warm/hot sunshine, and short heatwaves very possible.
Enjoy the glorious sunshine if you can…I’m loving it but appreciate it isn’t easy for everyone.
Next forecast will either be Wednesday or Thursday morning, England semi-final and office day logistics are complicating matters! What to do, what to do…
