Not quite summer but not quite autumn either.

The general picture sees high pressure trying to build from the south with associated much warmer air, but not yet able to take control due to low pressure systems close to our north, close to Iceland.

Monday is a rather cloudy day, with the odd spot of drizzle or a shower possible. Some bright spells at times, and becoming increasingly sunny later in the afternoon. Warm and humid, around 24’C, a bit of a breeze too. Becoming cloudy again overnight as a weak weather front approaches, quite warm and humid, no lower than around 17’C.

Tuesday starts mostly cloudy, though the odd bright spell mixed in. Around an hour’s moderate rain will cross during the latter part of the morning, afterwards it won’t be so humid, and there will be good sunny spells, some fair-weather cloud and a 20% chance of a shower. Around 22’C. Some clear spells, some cloudy spells overnight, much fresher, down to around 11’C.

For Wednesday we’ll have a cooler north-westerly flow. Sunny spells, quite a bit of cloud bubbling up, a 40% chance of a shower or two. Around 18’C, maybe 19’C and a bit of a breeze in the morning. Clear skies at first overnight but cloud will thicken as the next weather front arrives, some patchy light rain possible before dawn. Down to around 13’C.

Thursday starts cloudy with some showery rain, the odd heavy burst possible. Brighter skies follow, roughly from around midday (though some uncertainty so this may change), with sunny spells and some cloud. Breezy at times, and around 20’C or so. Mostly clear skies overnight, down to around 10’C.

By Friday the Atlantic low pressure train is in full autumnal flow to our north, but most of the rain stays up there.

Some uncertainty on details, but broadly speaking it should be reasonably sunny in the morning, perhaps the afternoon too – a chance of some rain/showers arriving later in the day though. Around 20’C and breezy. Overnight probably cloudy, a bit of rain possible at times, and mild – around 16’C.

Low confidence for Saturday, though something on the cloudier side more likely, the odd bit of patchy rain at times – though some sunny spells possible later in the day. Warm, breezy and a bit more humid too – around 21’C though if sunshine amounts surprise then temperatures will be a bit higher.

Suggestions that high pressure builds from the south on Sunday, moderate confidence – and assuming so then sunny spells and reasonably warm, somewhere between 20’C and 23’C.

I’m pretty confident that high pressure will continue to build into the next week and we’ll have one last summer spell to enjoy before autumn really kicks in.

One week of often sunny, very warm and dry weather – perhaps even quite hot at times. Possibly we could even squeeze 10 days or more.

Not a done deal yet, it’s still a week away, there could be some chilly nights, possibly some mist/fog/low cloud some mornings, which would depress daytime temperatures.
