Mostly hot and sunny. That chance of showers for the weekend coming? That chance is now very small, but there will be a less hot northerly flow for a short time.
Thanks to Diana for the photograph.
The general picture sees high pressure in control, centred over Scotland and we keep the easterly breeze for now.

Wednesday starts with quite a bit of cloud around. This will break up during the morning to leave good sunny spells, though some fair-weather cloud around at times. Hot, reaching around 29’C though breezy too. Clear skies for much of the night though some patchy low cloud arriving from the North Sea by dawn. Down to around 15’C.
Thursday sees any early patchy cloud lift quite quickly to leave long spells of sunshine for the morning, and good spells in the afternoon – some fair-weather cloud around in the afternoon. Hot again, still a breeze, around 29’C. Mostly clear skies overnight though some patchy cloud by dawn, down to around 14’C.
Friday sees sunny spells and variable amounts of fair-weather cloud. A small chance of an afternoon shower – say a 10% chance tops. Still pretty hot, around 28’C. Some cloud, some clear spells overnight, down to around 14’C.
By Saturday, high pressure is now to our west and there is a light northerly flow – good news for those who don’t like the heat.

Generally good sunny spells, though some cloud around at times – especially in the afternoon. Feeling fresher though still very warm – around 25’C. Reasonably clear skies overnight, down to around 13’C.
Sunday sees plenty more sunshine, a bit of cloud at times and still very warm – around 24’C. Down to around 12’C overnight.
Monday remains very similar, good or long spells of sunshine, some fair-weather cloud – around 25’C or so.
The rest of next week looks broadly similar, high pressure in control, sunshine the main feature though some cloud possible at times, and temperatures probably creeping back up to the high 20s as the week goes on.
There remains hints of something more changeable/showery towards the end of the month, though the timescale does keep getting put back.
Next forecast should be on World Cup final morning. Well, unless Argentina win tonight, in which case it’s just a Sunday morning. My heart says we will win 5-1 tonight. My head says pain and penalties.
