A cooler and rather mixed spell of weather ahead, starting with Storm Benjamin (named by Météo France).
Thanks to Tracy for the photograph.
So we start with Storm Benjamin in control, which is crossing northern France, with another low pressure system wrapped up in the same circulation to the north-west of Scotland.

Thursday starts cloudy with some showery rain, the heaviest of which will have cleared by time you read this, but the odd heavy burst will still be possible – but mostly it’s light/moderate showery rain. It should brighten up to an extent around lunchtime, or just after – but further showers will arrive later in the afternoon and into the evening. The winds strong at times, in the morning and again later in the afternoon. Around 12’C – autumn is really kicking into gear. Clearing skies overnight, down to around 5’C – still on the breezy side.
Friday starts sunny if a little on the chilly side. Cloud will bubble up later in the morning with some showers around in the afternoon, perhaps heavy, though you could miss them all. Generally quite windy and on the cool side, around 12’C. Clear skies for the first part of the night though cloud and some patchy rain (not much) will spread down in the second half of the night. No lower than around 7’C and still quite windy.
Saturday will see a mixture of sunny spells and cloudy spells, perhaps an afternoon shower though it should be on the light/moderate side if you do catch one. Feeling pretty chilly for the time of year, 11’C at best in the northerly wind. Clear skies overnight – down to around 3’C though probably too breezy for a frost.
Sunday sees plenty of sunshine in the morning, cloud gradually building during the afternoon as the next weather system approaches. Still on the chilly side, 10’C, maybe 11’C, and still breezy. Outbreaks of rain arriving in the evening, often light but not always – clear skies by dawn and down to around 7’C.
By Monday we are still in this cooler, now north-westerly flow.

Details a little uncertain by this point, but broadly some cloudy spells, some sunny spells and some showers at times. Windy once more and around 12’C.
Tuesday is probably on the cloudier side of the spectrum, some bits of rain are possible – though a bit milder at around 14’C or so.
From then on, generally things are likely to be mild but changeable with some further spells of rain and wind – though too early to point out which days/times right now.
There is the potential to drag up some warmer, tropical air – so a day of 18’C or so would be possible around the end of the month, but it would need good timing and there to be some sunshine to feel the benefit…don’t be surprised if it is just mild rain instead.
Probably remaining changeable/unsettled for at least the first week of November – drier conditions more likely after that.
